The AnandTech Podcast - Episode 4
by Anand Lal Shimpi on September 10, 2012 12:23 PM ESTI didn't lug the Blue yeti across the country for nothing: we have episode 4 of the AnandTech Podcast up for you all to listen to. Given the timing (we recorded it late Sunday evening) this one just features Brian and myself, but there's no shortage of things to talk about.
In this mostly smartphone focused episode we talk about last week's announcements from Nokia and Motorola. Brian also talked about his time at HTC in NYC this past week. We discuss Windows Phone 8 a bit and prepare for this week with the Intel Developer Forum, Haswell and the new iPhone launch.
There's even a little teaser at the beginning about a certain well known chip architect that I had the pleasure of having a conversation with in SF. Sorry for the hoarse voice, I nearly lost it talking to a bunch of really smart folks at AMD last night.

If you're trying to sync the podcasts to your Windows Phone or Zune via Zune SW, it's still possible without having Anand add it to the marketplace. Just import the rss feed into Zune under podcasts and you're good to go. (yes, it would be nicer to have it in the marketplace so that you didn't have to worry about doing what i just told you to do.) :-)Orvtrebor - Thursday, September 13, 2012 - link
Didn't know I could do that, thank you for the info!:)

When I started the podcast and someone said "Hi guys, this is Anand Shimpi..." I thought "who is this imposter?". Your voice sounds definitely weird. Hope it gets better soon! :DOn the podcasts: love 'em! The length could go up for my taste as well, my only other podcast has regular 3 hour podcasts and more. :-) But, whatever works best for your time of course.

A humble suggestion...Could you please include a rough Index that lists which topics begin at what times?
I have listened to a couple of your podcasts, and really enjoyed them, so I realize they contain a lot of free-flowing conversation.
But if I'm pressed for time, I might like to listen to one topic more than another, at least to get started.
This podcast is "mostly smartphone focused" but you also mention a teaser about a chip architecture. Thankfully you indicated it was near the beginning, which is what I'm most interested in today.
I'm sure I'll listen to all of it eventually, but a simple outline like that would be great. Today there is over 90 minutes to sort through, and it's difficult to "skim" audio material like you do text.
SAMPLE: (Assume these times and topics are incorrect, it's just a sample)
-------------
Intoduction = 0:00
Chip Architecture = 1:30
Smart Phone Comverstation = 5:45
Joke about Brian Klug = 1:02:30

I've been reading this site since the Pentium 3 days, but I've got to say these podcasts have been exceptional. I enjoy the fact that there has been a very interesting combination of information and opinions. Looking forward to the IDF coverage, but also now looking forward to the post show report, as it were, that you guys will do that sums up the overall experience and what you took away from it. Thanks for continuing with the podcasts and here's to many more to come.PS: Greatly enjoyed the fact that Brian mentioned one of my favorite bands, Covenant, during the podcast.
