ASUS Announces Plans to Bring Jelly Bean to Transformer Pad Series
by Anand Lal Shimpi on July 20, 2012 11:57 AM ESTASUS just sent us an email stating that the Transformer Pad, Transformer Pad Prime and Transformer Pad Infinity are all scheduled to receive updates to Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) in the "coming months". We don't have any more details at this point. The full message from ASUS is below:
Dear valued ASUS customer,
At ASUS, one of the key commitments we make to our customers is a relentless drive to deliver the best user experience. We constantly strive to achieve this goal through our ‘Design Thinking’ philosophy that includes regular software and firmware updates for our products.
We are pleased to announce that many of our tablet products are scheduled to receive an update to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. The ASUS Transformer Pad, ASUS Transformer Pad Prime and ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity are all scheduled to receive Android 4.1 updates in the coming months. We will provide further guidance on our expected timeframes for these updates near their release.
We are still investigating Jelly Bean updates for other devices, but we are not in a position to confirm whether any other products will be eligible for an update at the moment.

I wish more Android OEM acts like Asus and be responsible to support their devices.I hope my TMobile SGS2 gets Jelly Bean too :)

Seriously, could ASUS be any cooler?If they learned to make a halo phone, I'd be all over that shit. And by the time my SGS3 contract runs out in 2014, I seriously hope they will be a titan in the phone space.

As an early TF Prime owner, the device hasn't been without it's glitches, but slowly and surely most of them have been ironed out by regular firmware updates, and I really can't complain about the device at all, even the wireless range isn't that bad on mine!With the Tegra 3 based Nexus 7 also being the launch platform for Jellybean, this will only be good news for the Asus Tablets also, as the port should already be quite well optimized and should run great.

Asus actually manages to give existing customers some care.I will never ever buy a samsung tablet again after seeing and feeling their update strategy which is virtually non existent.
They'll rather keep new android versions as selling points on new tablets.

Since I have my TF201 I've received regular updates up to the latest .28, and actually I was surprised to receive my GPS dongle within just two days (even though I live in Saudi Arabia), their support team are welcoming and nice although I didn't need them yet.I just ordered a TF300 for my wife a couple of days before, and will get two Nexus 7's for my daughters whenever they are available here, so they can throw away that Arcos crap.
And now Jelly Bean update!!! I like :-)
That's the way companies get their loyal customers.
Where are Samsung?? I can't find them.

Seriously, the web is not ready to be surfed without Flash. I want flash.Otherwise I might as well buy an iPad 3! In 2 years maybe,but not now.
Too many video websites (networks like NBC,ABC, CNN etc) still use flash.
Also Yahoo finance has Flash charts and so many other things.
Restaurants have menus in Flash, the list goes on...
I hope I can turn the 4.1 update off.
Someone remind me pls, what is that must have killer feature in 4.1? Smoother UI?
