AMD's Trinity APU, due out near the middle of the year, will combine two Piledriver modules (four "cores") with an even beefier GPU. We've already laid out the general performance expectations for Trinity here, but today AMD showed off a ~18mm thick Trinity reference design built by Compal. Price points for Trinity systems like this will be sub $900 and AMD is promising better battery life than competing 17W designs (clearly a jab at Ultrabooks).

Just like the end of Atom last year. Good riddance to both!

What are you talking about? A 17w trinity would be a 'ULV' class chip. And Atom is still around, but its in an entirely different market space...

Haha, a Quad Core with the CPU performance of a Celeron SNB core. Whooooo

    Will it play Civ 2?

    at 640x480?

Lol are you seriously asking if Trinity will have playable gaming graphics? I think you should be looking at Ivy Bridge instead for Civ 2 playability.

Go back to the articles about CES2012, and you'll find one about a Trinity laptop running 3 monitors, including a racing game on one monitor.

I have been playing Civ V on a now ancient HP tm2 tablet convertible. From the first revision with the 4550 radeon, not the newer ones with 5450. Even the Sandy Bridge GPU is better than that now.

Trinity will be such an awesome upgrade for me. If they made a tablet (or convertible) I'd be all over it in a blink.
